A Word from Pastor Randy . . .

The waves keeping rolling through . . . tropical waves, that is!  After the formation of “Alex” over us a week ago, we have been “under the weather” for several days.  Now, another system has moved across the island.  When I walked our dog, Dolly, this morning, we took a stroll in the pouring rain, but we didn’t mind it!  In fact, though I cannot speak for her, I felt so refreshed by the early morning shower.  (I do believe she enjoyed it as well—her tail wagged a bit more than normal!)  The rumbling of distant thunder; the pelting and smell of rain; and the sense of refreshing stroked my senses and gave me a pause of worship:  “Thank you, God!”   Whether sunshine or rain, the reality is that our Heavenly Father cares for this world and provides for our every need.  Some days, we need rain; on others, the abundant sunshine of a tropical day in paradise!  We rest knowing that He knows our needs and responds accordingly!  He’s God; He’s our Father!  He loves us in Christ Jesus His Son!  When we really think about it, everyday is a “Thank you, Lord!” kind of day as we trust Him to care for us according to His great love and power!

Let me remind you of our coming Lord’s Day services . . . beginning at 7:00 with baptism at Smith’s Cove!  We will observe the Lord’s Supper as a part of our morning worship at 10:00.  Of course, we offer all-age Bible study during the Sunday School hour at 9:00.  Come join us for another experience of worship and fellowship!  Don’t let this holiday weekend keep you from coming together with us to worship the Lord and to thank Him for His abundant goodness to us!

And keep praying for Summer Splash 2010!  The week of Vacation Bible School and Kids’ Camp is just around the corner (July 12-16).  I’m praying, and I’m getting ready for a great week with kids and families!  “Saddle up, partner!  We’re getting ready to ride!”

Dr. Randy Von Kanel joined Cayman Islands Baptist Church as Senior Pastor in 2009. He attained his undergraduate degree from William Carey College and his doctorate from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary. Pastor Randy has been in the ministry for about 40 years. He and his wife Cindy have one daughter.
